Laser Layout Rental FAQ

Yes — and it's included. Every bare rental comes with a 3-hour hands-on certification session for your operator. The XR Projector is designed to be dramatically simpler than a total station; most operators are fully productive the same day. If you'd rather not operate it at all, choose our with-operator option and we do the layout for you.

The Mechasys XR Projector in its transport case, the pre-configured control tablet with the Layout Field app, software access for your project files, the certification session, and phone support for the full rental period. Delivery, on-site setup, and CAD/BIM file preparation are available as add-ons.

A signed rental agreement, a security deposit, and a certificate of insurance covering rented equipment. Your drawings in DWG or DXF format (BIM exports work too) — we can help prepare the files before your rental starts.

A total station gives you one point at a time, operated by a trained layout specialist. The XR Projector displays the entire drawing at once — every line, opening and fixture — directly on the surface, and any crew member can run it after a short certification. For interior and MEP layout it's typically twice as fast, and it's the first laser layout rental in Alberta — projecting on walls and ceilings, not just floors.

Yes. The XR Projector uses a Class 3R laser that Mechasys engineered to be one of the safest in its class, and it's rated IP54 for dusty, demanding job-site conditions. Standard laser-safety practices are covered in the certification session.

We're based in Calgary and serve all of Alberta, with service available in British Columbia and Saskatchewan for larger projects. Pickup from our Calgary location or delivery to your site — ask us for a delivery quote when booking.
